Trachycarpus Fortunei

The Trachycarpus Fortunei is known as the Chusan Palm. It also has a rather funny name, the Chinese windmill palm as well. This particular name comes from its unique shape and the fact that it can be seen as staying in front of the wind pretty much like a windmills. You can find this on in Japan, northern India and other regions too.

What makes the Trachycarpus Fortunei stand out is the fact that it can grow at any altitude above 100 meters. In fact, some Trachycarpus Fortunei were found at around 2400m, so they can easily grow on mountains as well.

Since this is a fan palm, it does have a very rough trunk and the material is known for being fibrous as well. The leaves are bringing in a long petiole, although you won’t find anything else aside from two small rows of spines.

The plant is known for being variable, especially when it comes to the way it looks. Some of the leaf segments are straight, while others also have some drooping tips as well. Female flowers are greenish, male colors are yellow for this one. As for the fruit, it has a great combination of blue-black and it ripes during the middle of the autumn season most of the time.

Trachycarpus Fortunei is known for being great against cool and moist summers. But it also tends to be very good against the cold winters, which is why you can find it in many European Locations too. That alone makes it extremely interesting for a lot of people, and it makes Trachycarpus Fortunei stand out of the crowd unlike never before. You will note that the Trachycarpus Fortunei is also visually impressive, despite the fact that it may not be very large to begin with. But the overall size doesn?t matter, and that definitely shows the prowess offered by this plant.
